Dalinse Ledges

Dalinse Ledges of Nagcarlan

An area close to the allure of civilization yet within reach of the bountiful living privileges of nature’s gift that is Mt. Banahaw lies a place called “Dalinse”.  Located at the foot of the great mountain where spring water also abounds, along strips of a tributary to San Diego River located between Brgy. San Francisco and Sil. Napapatid in Nagcarlan.  Pristine waters of Dalinse provides potable supply to nearby barangays.

Dalinse  is one of those locations where people pass along its edges yet don't realize the beauty beneath.  Slabs of granite rocks on both crag sides give character to the place.  Tucked between rows of bamboos that offers shade from the heat of the sun certainly adds beauty and serenity to the location.

Chunks of rocks dominate the area.  There are pieces of vertical crags and some overhanging sections of the walls that are great for bouldering and some for short rock climbing routes.

The area is a potential hiking and climbing destination.  It is accessed by a short foot trail from Brgy San Francisco main road and another trail located beside San Francisco-Sil. Napapatid road.

Dalinse Ledges are fine beginner crags’ spot and an excellent site for outdoor educators and climbing groups.

Nagcarlan can be a forthcoming climbing haven too.  Dalinse Ledges is certainly worth checking out.

TRIVIA:  The word “dalinse” is actually a corruption of the word  “dalensi”, from the root word “dalen” (Old English) meaning  "valley"  to common English or "lambak", libis, o mababang lupa/lupain in Filipino Tagalog dialect.  Sa halip na Dalensi, naging Dalinse ito sa paglipas ng panahon sa puntong Nagkarlangen (yung "e" nagiging "i" at yung "i" naman ay nagiging "e").
